Recently Sante Fe has been pioneering Native artists. They held five indigenous fashion designers at the Sante Fe Indian Market Gala to debut their work including a 2020 Academy Award honoree and a live auction in order to support local tribes. It was an ideal event to represent Indigenous culture through fashion, helping Native fashion become more mainstream with Native film and media already becoming more popular by the day. Sante Fe also founded the first Indigenous Fashion Week in May with Native Max, a Native fashion magazine highlighting up-and-coming designers. The significance, meaning, and cultural practices behind each piece of clothing are things that are drawing in more and more people to events in Santa Fe each year.
